Building a border
It’s going to be a little while until we start phase 2, so we decided to do some work in the garden to make it a nicer place to relax.
After mowing and general maintenance to try and keep the weeds under control we thought we’d start by doing something with the ridge… when we bought the house the higher bit of land was part of the field behind, there wasn’t a wall or anything, just a nettle and weed covered ridge. So we decided to make a flower bed.
We build a small edging wall using random bits of stone we had around. Mike built some new steps, a new path and a bigger patio using the original stone slabs we took out of the house.
We’ve got a few plants in there already and have more being delivered in June.
For anyone that knows me I’ve never been particularly green fingered and remembering to water isn’t a strength… luckily Mike’s got all those skills so hopefully we won’t be killing things off the second they’re planted.
Oh and we have a wild rabbit/hare living under the compost heap. We’re not sure how old it is but we’ve been advised to leave it alone in case it’s young and the mother comes back… but hopefully its old enough to eat so we keep putting greens near it and a bowl of water…
