Getting ready for Spring planting

27

Apr 2020

As the weather is starting to break we’ve been preparing the veggie patches in the garden and planting some seeds.

It’s amazing all the weeds that grow over the winter… but we’re very lucky that we have the space to spend time outdoors during lockdown.

We had seed potatoes and a range of new seeds and compost delivered and got the seeds planted up indoors…

So far we’ve got radishes, salad leaves, leeks, onions, chillis, peppers, cougette, cucumber, broccoli, tomatoes and sweetcorn corn seeds planted. The radishes are already sprouting and as the weather is getting warmer the first ones have been planted out.

And it’s not just us, the field behind the cottage has just been ploughed ready for the spring crop to go in too! I was waiting for all the field mice to come charging towards the house to avoid the plough… but luckily they didn’t!

Oh and we’ve ordered a greenhouse… just a small one for the time being but hopefully that’ll help with the seeds this year… fingers crossed it arrives soon.
