The day the rain came
It’s been a busy month or two, with floods, festivals and village fetes.
But first… at the beginning of August the rain came causing some flooding and proving why we need to bring big diggers in next year to move the drainage channel at the back of the house. We were luckier than many in Northumberland with burst rivers and flooded homes and businesses.
The drains were a little overwhelmed by the volume of water running off the field behind the house. Mike spent several hours digging a drainage channel along the back of the garden to try to divert water from coming down towards the house… even the field mice had trouble swimming around!
On a walk down to the village we checked out the river which was really high, the hotels riverside platform was submerged and the usually tranquil weir was a torrent.
