Storage galore
We’ve been talking for ages about building some storage into the little room before the bedroom to use as a wardrobe – for two years we’ve shared a chest of drawers and lived out of suitcases for everything else.
So to keep costs down, and because the corridor isn’t that wide, I sourced some hallway cupboards from Ikea, and then to make them look a bit nicer we painted the doors a lovely deep green, a colour I found in some swatches and got our local Homebase to mix for us… I really should see if they have a membership card with the amount of time and money we spend in there!
We also had an oversized wall cupboard spare from the not finished, or even started yet, utility room as we bought the units before we decided to leave the room open, so there was no wall to put wall cupboards on. Ta Da, we’ve used it in here to give us a low cupboard underneath the light switch.
Eagle eyes might spot the lovely cardboard top we have at the moment – we’re going to use an offcut of the kitchen oak worktop but need to pluck up the courage to try and cut it without making a huge mess.
One slight error which we’re going to fix is the light… we can’t open the door without hitting it so eventually we will wire in a spotlight instead… another job for the list!
And from a boring empty corridor to a lovely wall of storage with drawers, rails and shelves and a place to unpack into 🙂
