Hidden treasures

We started stripping the wallpaper in the bedroom – well most of it was falling off anyway so it wasn’t a difficult job.

We could see an indent in the chimney breast so we hoped that their might still be something behind there…and guess what – there was. A lovely original fireplace, that matches the ones in the second cottage. 

The chimney stack has been capped so we couldn’t actually light a fire (maybe not the safest thing to do in a bedroom anyway!) and that’s probably where all the soot, dirt and odd bits of rubble came from.  But when all cleaned up it’s looking great.

With a little bit of love and care, and some resetting of the inner brickwork it will be a lovely addition to the bedroom.
