Door no.2 is gone
Now that the floors are all in and finished it’s time to remove the second front door from the original cottage no.1 and replace it with a window.
This was a job for the stonemasons… the old door was removed, and they started bricking it up with reclaimed stone using lime mortar. They hand made the sill to match the others in the cottage and cut the stone out to fit it.
It’s such an amazing thing to watch someone hand carving something perfectly.
Our joiner was on site to fit the window and box in the inside, insulating in between… and all it needs now is a bull nosed wooden sill to match the rest.
It’s going to be great not getting junk mail through that door, even though officially we are one cottage now, the junk mail still arrives!
